Red Fort

There are so many tourist attractions in the grand city of Delhi. Delhi is considered to be one of the most historical capitals in the world. Most of Delhi’s tourist attractions have been declared as World Heritage Sites which add a certain amount of prominence to the already popular city. One of the biggest atttractions in Delhi is the bold Red Fort. If you visit the city you have to take a tour at this incredible monument attraction.

The Red Fort is also called Lal Qila which translate to Red Fort. It was originally the palace for Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan’s capital called Shahjahanabad. Constructed of massive dense red sandstones on all four sides. The great wall towers at 60 feet and 110 feet going into the direction of the city. Built in 1638 and took an estimated ten years to finish. The Red Fort has a beautiful formal garden just north of it called the Hayat Bakhsh Bagh or life bestowing garden. The Red Fort is one of the most popular desired tourist destinations in the city of Delhi. Over millions of people flock to visit the Red Fort ever single year. At one time people actually lived within the premises of the Dlhi Fort complex. When India was given independence in 1947 the Indian Army took control of the powerful fort once again. It wasn’t until the year of 2003 that the Red Fort became an official tourist attraction in India. The prime minister used to hold speeches on the Red Fort every Independence Day as a standard tradition. The Red Fort is considered to be ranked rather high as an architectural work of the Mughal era.
